Frequently asked questions
Blood Pressure Check
Is this service really free?
Yes. This is an NHS-funded blood pressure check for eligible patients, so there is no charge.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. If you are eligible you can book directly, and GP practices can also refer patients for a check.
How long does the appointment take?
A standard clinic blood pressure check usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes. If a 24-hour monitor is fitted, it can take a little longer.
What if my blood pressure is high?
We will explain your result and, if appropriate, offer 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Results are shared with your GP, and urgent readings are communicated promptly for follow-up.
What is an ABPM?
ABPM stands for Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring. It is a small device you wear for 24 hours that measures your blood pressure at regular intervals to give a more accurate average reading.
Will my GP know about my results?
Yes, with your consent. Your readings and results can be securely shared with your registered GP practice for continuity of care.
What should I bring to my appointment?
You do not need to bring anything specific. Our team will guide you through the process on the day.
